Steward's Report
Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Trainer Mr Frank Hand, Rusty Towbar was a late scratching at 10:00am due to trainer illness.
Stewards spoke to Mr Ronald Gilliland, the trainer of Unique Replica regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Unique Replica last raced on 17 December 2016 and is returning after a change of kennels.
Stewards spoke to Ms Chloe Allan, the trainer of Zipping Simmo, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Zipping Simmo last raced on 17 January 2017 and is returning after a right hock injury. Ms Allan also declared a new weight of 34.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Zipping Simmo last raced at 35.6kg.
A pre-race sample was taken from Unique Replica.
Milburn Gold was quick to begin. Zipping Simmo and Sun Choice collided soon after the start. Better Beware and Zipping Simmo collided at the 250m mark. Better Beware and Milburn Gold collided at the 150m mark. Sun Choice checked off Better Beware at the 50m mark.
Stewards received a complaint from a Trainer that a stir up occured without Trainer's having the opportunity to return inside the kennel block prior to the running of this event. Stewards spoke to Lure Driver T. Adamson and Kennel Attendant J. Nicholls and forwarded the matter onto appropriate management.
Stewards opened an inquiry into allegations concerning the conduct of licenced Trainer Mr. R. Gilliland towards raceday officials. Evidence was taken from Stewards Mr. J. Van Gelderen and Mr. C. Sullivan, club officials Mr. J. Ryan and Mr. J. Nicholls and Mr. Gilliland. The inquiry was adjourned to seek further evidence to a date to be fixed.
