Stewards spoke to Mr P.Riley, the handler of Mighty Matlock regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Mighty Matlock last raced on 12 August, 2015. Mr Riley stated that the greyhound has been in quarantine and spelling. Mr Riley, handler of Might Matlock declared a new weight of 33.0kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Mighty Matlock last raced at 35.0kg.

Missy Bee was slow to begin. Trixie Diamond and Mighty Matlock collided soon after the start. Mighty Matlock galloped on the heels of Mepunga Midget on the first turn.
