Piccolo Panther was quick to begin. Yancy Bale was slow to begin. Bushman's Poem, Bojack Kahn and Dr. Walter collided soon after the start. Black Albert, Midnight Caviar, Piccolo Panther collided approaching the first turn, checking Piccolo Panther. Midnight Caviar and Rido's Ace collided on the first turn. Yancy Bale and Piccolo Panther collided on the first turn. Yancy Bale, Rido's Ace, Midnight Caviar, Piccolo Panther, Dr. Walter and Bojack Kahn collided approaching the home turn, checking Rido's Ace and Midnight Caviar. Piccolo Panther and Dr. Walter collided on the home turn and again in the home straight. Dr. Walter and Rido's Ace collided approaching the winning post.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Dynastic Ruler trialled over the 400m from box 1, weight 31.7kg, the greyhound was placed 2nd in a field of four.The time of the trial was 24.32, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 0.5L. Dynastic Ruler was not cleared.
Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr Adam Norris, the trainer of Kostya Nuffen, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Kostya Nuffen last raced on 19 September 2016. Mr Norris stated that the greyhound had changed kennels. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Kostya Nuffen trialled over the 400m from box 3, weight 33.9kg, the greyhound was placed 3rd in a field of four. The time of the trial was 24.32, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 5.25L. Kostya Nuffin was cleared.
Mr Norris, trainer of Kostya Nuffen, declared a new weight of 33.9kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Kostya Nuffen last raced at 32.6kg
