Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Aston Philou.
Dr. Poppel and Mandela Sun were slow to begin. Machiko, We Have Hope, Cookie Rose collided on the first turn checking Machiko and We Have Hope . Dr. Poppel was checked off Machiko entering the back straight. Cookie Rose and Mandela Sun collided approaching the home turn. Dr. Poppel and Mandela Sun collided entering the home straight. Mandela Sun eased in the home straight and collided with Machiko checking both greyhounds.
Mandela Sun was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 12, it was reported that there was no injury apparent.
Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Pollutro the trainer of the greyhound Mandela Sun regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Mandela Sun with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Pollutro pleaded guilty to the charge, Mandela Sun was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Traralgon and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
