Steward's Report

Stewards spoke to D. Knocker. the representative of Whispering Soul regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Whispering Soul last raced on 23 October 2016 and is returning after a monkey muscle injury.

A pre-race sample was taken from Sly Shiraz. 

Sly Shiraz and Taking Flight collided soon after the start, checking Taking Flight. Barroom Counsel, Celtic Fire and Lopsided collided approaching the first turn, checking Barroom Counsel. Sly Shiraz and Taking Flight collided approaching the first turn, checking Taking Flight. Celtic Fire eased on the first turn. Whispering Soul and Lopsided collided on the first turn. Taking Flight and Barroom Counsel collided approaching the second turn. Taking Flight checked off Barroom Counsel entering the home straight. 

Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Carr, the trainer of the greyhound Celtic Fire regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn. Celtic Fire was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left monkey muscle and right groin muscle, a seven day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Celtic Fire with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Carr pleaded not guilty to the charge, Celtic Fire was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a),  before any future nomination will be accepted.
