Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Stemmer the trainer of Murphy's Magic regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Murphy's Magic last raced on 03/12/16.  Mr. Stemmer stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a tendon injury.

Edna Sparkle went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.  Pacific Power was slow to begin.  Santana was checked off Murphy's Magic approaching the first turn.  Tiger Bobby and Murphy's Magic collided on the first turn.  Tiger Bobby was checked off Edna Sparkle on the first turn.  Murphy's Magic eased in the home straight.  Murphy's Magic marred Candyo approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Stemmer the trainer of the greyhound Murphy's Magic regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight.  Murphy's Magic was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left monkey muscle, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1) the Stewards charged Murphy's Magic with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury.  Mr. Stemmer pleaded guilty to the charge, Murphy's Magic was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1((a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr. L. Fitzpatrick the trainer of Nimble Lucy regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Nimble Lucy last raced on 08/11/16.  Mr. Fitzpatrick stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a seasonal spell.

Nimble Lucy and Bowon Approach were quick to begin.  Starlit Dragon and Need A Zac collided soon after the start.  Starlit Dragon was checked off Bowon Approach on the first turn and collided with Fancy De Kahn checking Fancy De Kahn.

Delta's Magic was a late scratching at 10.30am on Veterinary advice (GAR 37)(fleas).  No stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate of clearance before any future nomination will be accepted.

Deano's Smidge was slow to begin.  Day Walker, Puzzled Royal and Deano's Smidge collided soon after the start.  Sweet Freyr and Sunset Queen collided approaching the first turn checking Sweet Freyr.  Deano's Smidge was checked off Puzzled Royal on the first turn.  Puzzled Royal was checked off Day Walker on the first turn.  Sweet Freyr contacted the running rail on the first turn checking Sweet Freyr.  Puzzled Royal and Deano's Smidge collided several times approaching the home turn and again on the home turn.  Deano's Smidge marred Nasher in the home straight.

Deano's Smidge was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no injury apparent.

Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Albert the trainer of the greyhound Deano's Smidge regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under GAR 69(1) Stewards charged Deano's Smidge with marring.  Mr. Albert pleaded guilty to the charge.  Deano's Smidge was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Evans regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound Day Walker.  Stewards directed that Day Walker be boxed first in future events.

Flabba Gabba was a late scratching at 10.40am on Veterinary advice due to an infected left front toe, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Snow Matter stumbled at box rise.  Get Along Daisy crossed out and Angel Ice crossed in soon after the start checking Riverside Deb, Veetee Mist and Willowvale Wings.  

Zafonic Express and Mendacious Lad collided soon after the start.  Ima Terror, Surfin' Caity and Mendacious Lad collided on the first turn checking Surfin' Caity.  Spotted Opal, Zafonic Express and Tiger Ty Bob collided on the first turn checking Zafonic Express which fell.  Surfin' Caity faltered approaching the home turn.

Surfin' Caity was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right back muscle, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Another Blue and Map It Out were quick to begin.  No Road was slow to begin.  Map It Out and Black Ember collided soon after the start and again on the first turn.  Bending Bananas and Another Blue collided several times in the home straight.

Tweedle Dumb was slow to begin.  Simply Mystic and Another Hope collided soon after the start.  Simply Mystic, Another Hope and Riverside Mons collided approaching the first turn checking Another Hope and Riverside Mons.  Simply Mystic galloped on Tweedle Dumb on the first turn checking Riverside Mons and severely checking Tweedle Dumb which fell as a result.  Simply Mystic and Max Roxy collided approaching the first turn.  Tricky Trey was checked off Machiko approaching the home turn.

Tweedle Dumb was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured left wrist, a 90 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race sample was taken from Chloe In Paris.

Kiyoshi was slow to begin.  Buckle Up Todd and Azza collided soon after the start.  Buckle Up Todd, Chloe In Paris and Lady Of Ellie collided approaching the first turn.  Tekki Cloud, Chloe In Paris and Lady Of Ellie collided on the first turn checking Chloe In Paris.

Track Curator Mr. M. Bickerdike advised Stewards that the track was lightly harrowed on 09/03/17.

Satisfactory trial results:-

Crystal Shadow trialled over 400 metres from box 1, weight 31.1kg, the greyhound was placed third in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 23.25 secs, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of  1.5 lengths.  Chrystal Shadow was cleared.

She's A Beaut trialled over 400 metres from box 4, weight 27.5kg, the greyhound fell in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 23.25 secs.  She's A Beaut was not cleared.
