Steward's Report
Delta's Magic was a late scratching at 10.30am on Veterinary advice (GAR 37)(fleas). No stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate of clearance before any future nomination will be accepted.
A pre-race sample was taken from Sunset Queen.
Deano's Smidge was slow to begin. Day Walker, Puzzled Royal and Deano's Smidge collided soon after the start. Sweet Freyr and Sunset Queen collided approaching the first turn checking Sweet Freyr. Deano's Smidge was checked off Puzzled Royal on the first turn. Puzzled Royal was checked off Day Walker on the first turn. Sweet Freyr contacted the running rail on the first turn checking Sweet Freyr. Puzzled Royal and Deano's Smidge collided several times approaching the home turn and again on the home turn. Deano's Smidge marred Nasher in the home straight.
Deano's Smidge was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no injury apparent.
Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Albert the trainer of the greyhound Deano's Smidge regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) Stewards charged Deano's Smidge with marring. Mr. Albert pleaded guilty to the charge. Deano's Smidge was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Evans regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound Day Walker. Stewards directed that Day Walker be boxed first in future events.
