A pre-race sample was taken from Thunderlips.
Tiger Whelan was quick to begin. Call Me Tickets, Yaris Bale and Heston Lodge were slow to begin. Tiger Whelan crossed in soon after the start and collided with Betty Baker checking Betty Baker. Thunderlips and Half Way There collided approaching the first turn. Yaris Bale was checked off Call Me Tickets approaching the first turn. Tiger Whelan crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking Thunderlips, Half Way There and Betty Baker. Thunderlips, Betty Baker and Call Me Tickets collided on the first turn checking Half Way There and Heston Lodge and severely checking Yaris Bale which stumbled causing Betty Baker to fall. Half Way There was checked off Thunderlips on the second turn. Call Me Tickets and Tiger Whelan collided on the home turn checking Tiger Whelan. Half Way There was checked off Thunderlips in the home straight.
Betty Baker was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right triangle muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
