Steward's Report
In accordance with the GRV heat policy, the kennel temperatures were recorded, 19.4 degrees.
A pre-race sample was taken from Denarau upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Old Zebb and Big Roman were slow to begin. Denarau, Foxy Whip and Yorgi collided soon after the start checking Yorgi. Morta Bella and Princess Strike collided soon after the start. Denarau, Yorgi and Morta Bella collided approaching the first turn. Big Roman raced wide on the first turn. Princess Strike eased on the second turn and lost ground. Denarau checked off Morta Bella in the back straight. Denarau and Morta Bella collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds. Denarau and Big Bold Boomer collided entering the home straight.
Princess Strike was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to both monkey muscles and the left triangle. A stand down period of 14 days was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Russell, the trainer of the greyhound Princess Strike regarding the greyhounds racing manners on second. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Princess Strike with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Russell pleaded guilty to the charge, Princess Strike was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 3 months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
