Eminent Reality, Lightning Frank and Matt Machine were slow to begin.
Aston Bolero and Fanta Bale crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, causing Monaro Monelli and Blazin' Bomber to collide. Eminent Reality and Aeroplane Bob collided several times approaching the first turn, checking Eminent Reality. Lightning Frank checked off Matt Machine on the first turn. Aston Bolero and Fanta Bale collided on the first turn, checking Aston Bolero, Fanta Bale, Monaro Monelli and Blazin' Bomber. Aeroplane Bob and Matt Machine collided on the first turn. Eminent Reality checked off Aeroplane Bob approaching the second turn. Eminent Reality and Aeroplane Bob collided approaching the home turn. Lightning Frank and Blazin' Bomber collided on the home turn. Monaro Monelli and Matt Machine collided on the home turn. Eminent Reality and Aston Bolero collided in the home straight. Aeroplane Bob and Aston Bolero collided approaching the winning post.
Lightning Frank was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right long head triceps (monkey) muscle, the right gracilis (back) muscle and the right tensor fascia (triangle) muscle. A 14-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards issued a warning to Mr Mathew Wright, the trainer of Lightning Frank, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn.
A sample was taken from Fanta Bale, the winner of the event. A sample was taken from Eminent Reality, the second place-getter in the event. A sample was taken from Aeroplane Bob, the third place-getter in the event.
