A pre-race sample was taken from Cyndie's Magic.
Hit The Highway went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin. Buck Forty and Cyndie's Magic collided soon after the start checking Cyndie's Magic. Reefton Treasure and Fanta Bale collided approaching the first turn checking Reefton Treasure. Extreme Magic and Blazin' Bomber collided on the first turn. Extreme Magic, Dundee Osprey and Blazin' Bomber collided on the first turn checking all three greyhounds. Reefton Treasure and Hit The Highway collided on the first turn checking Reefton Treasure. Buck Forty and Dundee Osprey collided in the front straight. Hit The Highway checked off Extreme Magic on the second turn. Dundee Osprey and Buck Forty collided on the second turn checking Buck Forty. Fanta Bale and Buck Forty collided on the third turn checking both greyhounds. Extreme Magic checked off Reefton Treasure in the home straight.

A sample was taken from Reefton Treasure, which performed below market expectations. Reefton Treasure was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right back muscle and right triangle muscle, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.
