In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 1 was 20.0 degrees celcius.

A pre-race sample was taken from Sammi Jay.

Inter Sam and Sienna's Gem were slow to begin.  Sammi Jay crossed to the outside soon after the start and collided with Woodleigh Bond, Bushman's Bar and Rapanui Revival as a result.  Sammi Jay, Dynamic Deano and Bushman's Bar collided approaching the 300 metre mark.  Dynamic Deano and Rapanui Revival collided at the 300 metre mark.  Dynamic Deano checked off the heels of Bushman's Bar at the 250 metre mark and lost ground as a result.  Woodleigh Bond, Rapanui Revival and Belron Gaz collided at the 150 metre mark.  Inter Sam and Sienna's Gem collided several times at the 50 metre mark.

Dynamic Deano was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right triangle muscle.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed. 

In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 2 was 20.0 degrees celcius.

Boof's Banjo and Dee Mini Mouse were slow to begin.  Boston You Essay crossed to the rail soon after the start.  Tiger Rising and Boof's Banjo collided at the 250 metre mark.  Chief Tonto clipped the heels of Cowboy Brett at the 200 metre mark.  Boston You Essay and Proud Phoenix collided at the 150 metre mark. Krazy Blaze clipped the heels of Boston You Essay approaching the winning post.

Cosmic Sole and Still Just Under were slow to begin.  Storm Of All and Spring Top collided at the 200 metre mark.  Spring Top checked off Still Just Under at the 150 metre mark.  Nick and Ringading Bling collided at the 100 metre mark.

In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 4 was 20.0 degrees celcius.

Gold Rush Dozer and Steady Walker collided soon after the start.  Oliver Cruise, Gold Rush Dozer and Steady Walker collided soon after the start checking Steady Walker.  Oliver Cruise and Diamond's Sing collided at the 250 metre mark.

In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 5 was 20.2 degrees celcius.

A pre-race sample was taken from Tayla's Banjo.

Bullocky Bill, Bubsy John and Big Roman were slow to begin.  Big Roman crossed to the outside soon after the start.  Tayla's Banjo and Bubsy John collided soon after the start.  Dr. Condor crossed to the outside at the 150 metre mark.  Oh Lele Simon raced wide throughout the event.

In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 6 was 20.2 degrees celcius.

A pre-race sample was taken from Bruree Jewel.

Another Hope was slow to begin.  Zelemar Zing crossed to the rail soon after the start and collided with My Names Schultz and Spazzy Blue; Spazzy Blue and Zelemar Zing were checked as a result.  Another Hope crossed to the outside at the 250 metre mark.

In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 7 was 20.2 degrees celcius.

Seeya Saturday, Oaklands and Spoil The Party were slow to begin.  Seeya Saturday crossed to the outside soon after the start and then to the extreme outside at the 150 metre mark.  Brianna Morgan and Morson Senor collided several times from soon after the start to the 150 metre mark.  Brianna Morgan checked off Morson Senor at the 100 metre mark checking Brianna Morgan.  Master Phelps raced wide throughout the event.

In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 8 was 20.1 degrees celcius.

Miss Jay Mac was slow to begin.  Booma Mikado and Showgirl Miss collided soon after the start.  Booma Mikado and Miss Jay Mac collided at the 250 metre mark and again at the 200 metre mark checking Don's Shy Girl.  Showgirl Miss galloped on the heels of Booma Mikado at the 100 metre mark checking both greyhounds.  Miss Jay Mac eased approaching the winning post.

Booma Mikado was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained split webbing to its left hind foot.  A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. J. McFarlane, the trainer of the greyhound Miss Jay Mac regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post.  Miss Jay Mac was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 11, it was reported that the greyhound sustained bruising to its right calf muscle.  A 5 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the Stewards charged Miss Jay Mac with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr. McFarlane pleaded guilty to the charge.  Miss Jay Mac was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

A sample was taken from Cape Ability, the winner of the event.

Barra Johnson was a late scratching at 7:13pm on Thursday 9th February 2017 due to illness (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.

In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 9 was 20.0 degrees celcius.

Lady Beatrix, Doogie Boy and Demonishem were slow to begin.  Lady Beatrix and Lady Of Ellie collided at the 200 metre mark.

Dozer Lad was a late scratching at 3:04pm on the advice of the Club's Veterinary Surgeon due to odema / swelling of the left metatarsal (possible insect bite).  A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 10 was 19.9 degrees celcius.

A pre-race sample was taken from Dozer Gold.

Vane Blue and Lido's Boy were slow to begin.  Vane Blue checked off Dozer Gold at the 100 metre mark.  Major Nippa and Dr. Poppel collided at the 50 metre mark.  Vane Blue and Dozer Gold collided approaching the winning post.

In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 11 was 20.0 degrees celcius.

Ernie Old, Spring Saviour and Onto Jatt were slow to begin.  Bingo Sally and Fear Fire collided soon after the start.  Ernie Old and Onto Jatt collided at the 250 metre mark checking Onto Jatt and Bingo Sally.  Ernie Old and Fear Fire collided approaching the 200 metre mark.  Ernie Old and Fear Fire collided at the 150 metre mark.

In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy the recorded temperature in the kennels at race 12 was 20.1 degrees celcius.

Fat Noel was slow to begin.  Jax Mikado, Caesar's Comet, Cash Ownley and Old Zebb collided soon after the start checking Fat Noel.  Jax Mikado and Caesar's Comet collided at the 300 metre mark.  Caesar's Comet and Old Zebb collided at the 250 metre mark.  Jax Mikado crossed to the outside at the 200 metre mark checking Caesar's Comet and Old Zebb; Old Zebb lost ground as a result.

Meeting Comments

Stewards altered the opening time of kennelling by 18 minutes due to the late arrival of Dr. Barbara Backhoy who was unaware that this meeting was deemed as heat affected.  Stewards spoke to Dr. Backhoy regarding the matter and requested Ms. Cynthia O'Brien make direct contact with Dr. Backhoy in future where meetings are classified as heat affected.

Stewards altered the closing time of kennelling due to the late arrival of trainers - Mr. M. Fox and Mr. S. Hughes. Both  Messrs. Fox and Hughes explained that there were traffic incidents on the freeway causing a delay in arriving at the track by the appointed time.  It was noted that both Mr. Hughes and Mr. Fox had communicated with Stewards via telephone conversation as the delays had occurred. Stewards took no further action.
