Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Topaz Warrior.
Topaz Warrior and Iron Vee were slow to begin. Winston Cruise and Topaz Warrior collided soon after the start checking Topaz Warrior. Awesome Freckles and Iron Vee collided approaching the home turn checking Awesome Freckles. Topaz Warrior checked off Puddle Jumper approaching the home turn. Puddle Jumper and Topaz Warrior collided several times in the home straight. Topaz Warrior failed to pursue the lure with due commitment approaching the winning post and collided with Iron Vee as a result.
Stewards spoke to Mr. K. Quinn, the trainer of the greyhound Topaz Warrior regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post. Topaz Warrior was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 10, it was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to its left monkey muscle and right quadriceps. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the Stewards charged Topaz Warrior with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Quinn pleaded not guilty to the charge. Topaz Warrior was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69 (B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
