Steward's Report
Captain Cranky was a late scratching at 6.19pm on Veterinary advice (GAR 37)(fleas). No stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate of clearance, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Mr P Galea, the trainer of Peter's Pride regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Peter's Pride last raced on 14 September 2017. Mr Galea stated that the greyhound was returning from injured left and right shoulders.
Bella Ha Ha was quick to begin. Retention and Dr. Illuminate were slow to begin. Top Shot Jack eased soon after the start. Top Shot Jack crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Dr. Illuminate. Top Shot Jack galloped on the heels of Jimmy's Joken soon after the start, checking Jimmy's Joken and Top Shot Jack and severely checking Retention and Dr. Illuminate. Peter's Pride and Bella Ha Ha collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn. Peter's Pride galloped on the heels of Bella Ha Ha approaching the home turn, checking Bella Ha Ha and severely checking Peter's Pride. Peter's Pride contacted the running rail approaching the home
Top Shot Jack was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. W Majoor, the trainer of the greyhound Top Shot Jack regarding the greyhounds racing manners soon after the start. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Top Shot Jack with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. W Majoor pleaded not guilty to the charge, Top Shot Jack was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Traralgon and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
