Cheryl's Boy went up with the lids and was slow to begin.  Peter Yap, Surf Along and Golden Malt collided approaching the first turn.  Taarie Bale and Last Angel collided approaching the first turn.  Surf Along veered in and marred Mahlo Hawkeye in the home straight.  Last Angel, Peter Yap and Mahlo Hawkeye collided in the home straight.  Surf Along checked off Mahlo Hawkeye in the home straight.

Surf Along was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to M Lloyd, the trainer of the greyhound Surf Along regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Surf Along with marring. M Lloyd pleaded guilty to the charge, Surf Along was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Palma, the trainer of Secret Spark regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Secret Spark last raced on 10th August, 2016.  Mr. Palma stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after an injury to the left monkey muscle and being on season.  Mr. Palma also declared a new weight of 24.6kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Secret Spark last raced at 25.7.

Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Bumpstead, the trainer of Alyssa's Girl regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Alyssa's Girl last raced on 27th August, 2016.  Mr. Bumpstead stated that the greyhound had been unable to obtain a start. Mr. Bumpstead also declared a new weight of 26.7kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Alyssa's Girl last raced at 28.1kg.

Alyssa's Girl was quick to begin.  Regis Moment and Secret Spark collided soon after the start.  Secret Spark checked off Alyssa's Girl approaching the first turn.  Regis Moment and Alyssa's Girl collided on the first turn, checking Regis Moment and severely checking Secret Spark.

A sample was taken from Oity Allen, winner of the event.

Gold Compass was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured left radius/ulna, and was humanely euthanased.

Mr. T. Erenshaw trainer of Flying Camo declared a new weight of 32.7kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Flying Camo last raced at 33.8kg.

Flying Camo was quick to begin.  Moneypenny and Ernie Old were slow to begin.  Dynamo's Gift checked off Spring Bomber entering the home straight, checking Ernie Old.

Mr. Moonlight, Dyna Yatul, Country Flash and Helen Baxter collided soon after the start, checking Dyna Yatul and Country Flash.  Spring Emperor checked off Lani Bale approaching the first turn.  Dyna Yatul checked off Helen Baxter approaching the home turn.  Mr. Moonlight and Supreme Prince collided several times approaching the home turn.  Dyna Yatul checked off Lani Bale approaching the home turn severely checking Dyna Yatul, severely checking Supreme Prince which fell as a result.  Spring Emperor checked off Mr. Moonlight in the home straight.  Manhattan Man checked off Helen Baxter in the home straight.

Dyna Yatul was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a torn left hind nail, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Supreme Prince was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the grehound sustained abrasions to the left hock and spike wounds to the right hind leg.  No stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Dailly, the kennel representative of Lektra Fire regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Lektra Fire last raced on 24 August, 2016.  Mr. Dailly stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after being on season.

Mr. J. Brooks trainer of Dane Daisy declared a new weight of 30.4kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Dane Daisy last raced at 31.8kg.

A pre-race sample was taken from Rido's Ace.

Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Rounds, the trainer of Shytown Hussler regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Shytown Hussler last raced on the 4th September, 2016. Mr. Rounds stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after surgery to the right wrist.

Marodo was slow to begin.  Shytown Hussler, Kiwi Collision and Tai Chi Mini collided approaching the first turn, checking Zinzan Brooke which collided with Advice Aplenty.  Shytown Hussler, Kiwi Collision and Pantera Nera collided on the first turn, checking Kiwi Collision, Tai Chi Mini and Zinzan Brooke.  Advice Aplenty checked off Kiwi Collision approaching the home turn.  Zinzan Brooke galloped on the heels of Tai Chi Mini approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds.  Marodo and Advice Aplenty collided approaching the winning post, checking Advice Aplenty.

Mr. R. Gladman trainer of Rosie Rocks declared a new weight of 31.0kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Rosie Rocks last raced at 29.5kg.
