Vintage Box was slow to begin. Miss Georgia May, Vintage Box and Magic Gold collided soon after the start checking Magic Gold. Vintage Box was checked off Miss Georgia May on the first turn. Ravel and Onto Jatt collided approaching the home turn, both greyhounds raced wide as a result. Black Bindi and Lucky's Spirit collided on the home turn checking Lucky's Spirit. Miss Georgia May and Magic Gold collided on the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Busuttil the representative of Kiyoshi regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Kiyoshi last raced on 31/03/16. Mr. Busuttil stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a torn triangle muscle. Pursuant to GAR 77A Kiyoshi trialled over 315 metres from box 8, weight 31.8kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of 6. The time of the trial was 18.59 secs, the greyhound won by a margin of .5 length. Kiyoshi was cleared.
