Steward's Report
A pre race sample was taken from Dig Deep Bert.
Select Sanz crossed to the outside soon after the start, checking Bush Caviar, Major Talent and Proven Glady. Silvertop, Bush Caviar and Major Talent collided at the 300m mark. Bush Caviar and Proven Glady collided at the 275m mark. Bush Caviar crossed to the outside at the 250m mark, checking Proven Glady and Major Talent. Dig Deep Bert eased at the 150m mark. Usain Burst and Major Talent collided at the 100m mark. Bush Caviar eased approaching the winning post, checking Select Sanz.
Stewards spoke to Mr I.Chircop, the trainer of the greyhound Bush Caviar regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Bush Caviar was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right triangle and right shoulder, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR69(B)(1), the stewards charged Bush Caviar with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Chircop pleaded not guilty to the charge, Bush Caviar was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Dig Deep Bert was vetted and after being re-vetted following event 9, it was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr R.Gatt, the trainer of the greyhound Dig Deep Bert regarding the greyhounds racing manners at the 150m mark. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Dig Deep Bert with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Gatt pleaded guilty to the charge, Dig Deep Bert was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
