Stewards spoke to Mr.N.Sheehan, trainer of Eumeralla View, regarding the extended period of time between the greyhound's races. Eumeralla View last started on the 9 June 2014 . Mr. Sheehan stated the greyhound was returning to race after being on season and suffering from an abscess on the left metacarpal.
Mr. D. Lenehan, trainer of Lektra Cyclone redeclared a new weight of 25.4kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Lektra Cyclone last raced at 26.7kg.
Don's Chief was a late scratching at 4:09pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to illness. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Lektra Cyclone and Katie Alouette collided soon after the start, checking Lektra Cyclone. Chief Winslow and Barbarose Boy collided approaching the first turn. Barbarose Boy checked off Little Caviar on the first turn and collided with Grannys Wee Girl and Eumeralla View, resulting in Grannys Wee Girl and Eumeralla View being checked and Barbarose Boy being severely checked.
Barbarose Boy was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a dislocated left hind toe and split webbing, a 28 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards issued a warning to Mr. P. Teuma the trainer of Little Caviar regarding his failure to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve the greyhound for racing. GAR 46
