Steward's Report
Chopper Doris and Mahaya were slow to begin. Chopper Doris and Play Alone collided soon after the start. Nikita's Blaze and Doogee collided approaching the first turn, checking both greyhounds. Nikita's Blaze checked off Chopper Doris on the first turn. Mahaya raced wide on the first turn. Nikita's Blaze and Doogee collided on the second turn, checking both greyhounds. Dukestar eased on the second turn. Dukestar and Play Alone collided entering the back straight, checking Dukestar. Chopper Doris contacted the running rail in the back straight. Zulu Zoe and Play Alone collided in the home straight.
Stewards spoke to D Chiu, the trainer of the greyhound Dukestar regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the second turn. Dukestar was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following race 5, it was reported that the greyhound sustained spike wounds to the left hind metatarsal. No stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Dukestar with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). D Chiu pleaded guilty to the charge, Dukestar was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Chopper Doris was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right elbow and left deltoid, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.
