Deadset Jet and Rene Love were quick to begin.  Quite Spritely, Cacoethes and My Birthday collided soon after the start, checking Cacoethes and My Birthday.  Rex On, Quite Spritely and Abbie's Dream collided approaching the first turn, checking Quite Spritely and Abbie's Dream.  Rene Love checked off Deadset Jet on the first turn.  Rex On and Abbie's Dream collided on the first turn, checking Abbie's Dream.  Rene Love checked off Blitzem Cola on the home turn.  Rex On checked off Rene Love on the home turn, severely checking Rex On, Quite Spritely, Cacoethes and My Birthday, all four greyhounds raced wide as a result.  Rex On and My Birthday collided approaching the winning post.

Atomic Opie was quick to begin.  Ollie Boy was slow to begin.  Born To Boogie checked off Maximum Strike soon after the start.  Syd's Memory checked off Pleasant Annie soon after the start.  Maximum Strike, Pleasant Annie, Shifty Joshua and Ollie Boy collided approaching the first turn, checking Maximum Strike, Pleasant Annie and Vlahos.  Born To Boogie, Syd's Memory and Shifty Joshua collided on the first turn, checking Syd's Memory and severely checking Born To Boogie.  Maximum Strike and Ollie Boy collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight.  Ollie Boy marred the running of Born To Boogie in the home straight and again approaching the winning post, checking Maximum Strike, Ollie Boy and Shifty Joshua.  Born To Boogie raced wide in the home straight.

Ollie Boy was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right pencil muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to J Magri, the trainer of the greyhound Ollie Boy regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight and approaching the winning post.  Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Ollie Boy with marring. J Magri pleaded guilty to the charge, Ollie Boy was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Spring Topaz, Why Not Sue and Claretown Sam were slow to begin.  Ernie Old checked off George Mist soon after the start.  Spring Topaz checked off Baroness Tiffie approaching the first turn.Ultimate Cash checked off Uno Sparti approaching the home turn, checking Spring Topaz.  Ultimate Cash and Spring Topaz collided on the home turn, checking Ultimate Cash and Why Not Sue.  Ultimate Cash checked off Claretown Sam in the home straight and raced wide as a result.

Bekim Vapour was slow to begin.  Miss Rossi crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking See Him Next and Bush Courage.  Bekim Vapour and Miss Rossi collided on the first turn, checking Bekim Vapour.  Proven Glady, Miss Rossi and See Him Next collided on the first turn, checking Miss Rossi and Bekim Vapour.  Cudgee Destroyer and See Him Next collided entering the home straight, checking See Him Next and Bekim Vapour, causing both greyhounds to race wide as a result.  See Him Next and Bekim Vapour collided in the home straight, checking Bekim Vapour.

Cudgee Destroyer was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 7, it was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

One Dee was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a cut to the right ear, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to G Hunt, trainer of the greyhound Cudgee Destroyer regarding the greyhound performing under market expectations.  Mr Hunt stated that the greyhound was kept wide throughout the majority of the race and this prevented him racing in his normal race pattern (which is a strong middle section).  Mr Hunt informed stewards that he would notify them if any matter arises that may have affected Cudgee Destroyer's performance.  Stewards noted Mr Hunt's explanation and directed that a sample be taken from the greyhound.

Nitro Princess was a late scratching from this event at 6:28pm Stewards non-penalty, due to an administration error which resulted in the greyhound being drawn in two events. Nitro Princess was a reserve (9) in Event 6 and gained a start after a late scratching in the event.  Nitro Princess was also drawn into the field of Event 8, 450m heats. Nitro Princess will compete in Event 8.

Optimus Bart was slow to begin.  Shanlyn Violet crossed to the rail soon after the start.  Miss Cersei crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Optimus Bart, Charleston, Classy Boy and Slipaway Mavis.  Charleston, Classy Boy and Slipaway Mavis collided on the first turn, severely checking Classy Boy and Slipaway Mavis.  Slipaway Mavis checked off Classy Boy on the first turn.  Miss Cersei checked off Optimus Bart on the first turn.  Shanlyn Violet and Optimus Bart collided approaching the winning post.

Punk Star Lass was a late scratching at 8.39am due to injury (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Wobbler was quick to begin.  Classy Sparks and Black Velcro were slow to begin.  Elbow Room and Speed Chill collided soon after the start, checking Speed Chill.  Watta Good Dee and Classy Sparks collided on the home turn, checking Wobbler.  Watta Good Dee and Classy Sparks collided several times in the home straight, checking Watta Good Dee.

Memphis Jookin' crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Airbound, Dalgetty, Boo Shan, Nitro Princess and Fiery Fox.  Boo Shan contacted the running rail approaching the first turn.  Fiery Fox and Dalgetty collided approaching the first turn, checking Fiery Fox.  Dalgetty checked off Eye Smith on the first turn, checking Fiery Fox.  Eye Smith checked off Nitro Princess on the first turn.  Boo Shan raced wide on the home turn.  Dalgetty checked off Nitro Princess in the home straight.

Boo Shan was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained spike wounds to the left and right hind legs.  No stand down period was imposed.

Xtreme Knocka was quick to begin.  Morson Senor, Jack Winter and Xtreme Knocka collided soon after the start, checking Morson Senor and Jack Winter.  Babs Bale checked off Spanky's Legacy approaching the first turn.  Babs Bale brushed the running rail approaching the home turn.

Crafty Maisy was quick to begin.  Play A Kazoo was slow to begin.  Spreading Rumors checked off Brazen Bull soon after the start.  Crafty Maisy, Play A Kazoo and Monster Deeds collided approaching the first turn, checking Crafty Maisy and Play A Kazoo.  Hard Bargain checked off Brazen Bull approaching the first turn.  Play A Kazoo and Hard Bargain collided approaching the home turn.  Play A Kazoo galloped on the heels of Hard Bargain on the home turn, checking both greyhounds.  Play A Kazoo and Spreading Rumors collided entering the home straight, checking Play A Kazoo.
