Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Maverick Thunder.
Maverick Thunder, Latino Ice and Uncool Albert were slow to begin. Maverick Thunder, Rusty Boy, Latino Ice, Sailaway Jackie and Archie Ninkasi collided on the first turn checking Latino Ice, Archie Ninkasi and Uptown Funk. Uptown Funk checked off Archie Ninkasi approaching the home turn. Scooby Who and Sailaway Jackie collided on the home turn checking Maverick Thunder and causing Sailaway Jackie to fall. Uptown Funk eased on the home turn.
Sailaway Jackie was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured left metatarsal. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Brennan, the representative of the greyhound Uptown Funk regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Uptown Funk was vetted following the event and re-vetted following event 12, it was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to its right hind toe, left pencil muscle and thoracic restriction. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Uptown Funk with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Brennan pleaded guilty to the charge. Uptown Funk was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before ay future nomination will be accepted.
