A pre race sample was taken from Zipping Comet.
Irish Mobster and Kayo King were slow to begin. Nova Magic stumbled shortly after boxrise. Nova Magic, Saturday Sip, Spirited Rose and Avatar Hunter collided soon after the start. Avatar Hunter, Irish Mobster and Kayo King collided approaching the first turn. Willowvale Storm faltered on the first turn and subsequently tailed off. Spirited Rose contacted the running rail approaching the second turn. Avatar Hunter checked off Nova Magic entering the back straight. Irish Mobster and Kayo King collided on the second turn.
Spirited Rose was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right monkey muscle injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Willowvale Storm was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left back muscle injury, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Galea, the trainer, regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound Saturday Sip. Stewards directed that Saturday Sip be boxed first in future events.
