Marbo's Magic which is rated a Grade 4 greyhound, inadvertently appeared in some form guides with a Grade 5 rating due to an administrative error .
A pre-race sample was taken from Lonnie Lad upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Desert Spike and Silver Salute were quick to begin. American Monster was slow to begin.
River Crossing and Lonnie Lad collided soon after the start checking River Crossing. Silver Salute, Desert Spike and Helga Bale collided approaching the first turn checking Desert Spike and Helga Bale. River Corssing checked off Shiny Lad approaching the first turn. Shiny Lad and Lonnie Lad collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds. American Monster, Helga Bale and Silver Salute collided on the first checking all three greyhounds. American Monster and Helga Bale collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Shiny Lad and Lonnie Lad collided and checked entering the home straight. Shiny Lad raced wide in the home straight.
