Barellen Opal was quick to begin. Ninety Five, Du Plessis and Waynewright collided soon after the start, checking Du Plessis and Waynewright. Lever Action crossed to the rail on the first turn, checking Thunder Chief, Ninety Five, Waynewright and Du Plessis. Lever Action checked off Thunder Chief on the second turn. Gazer Bale and Waynewright collided approaching the home turn.
