Steward's Report
Slipaway Anna was slow to begin. College Graduate, Lucilla and Flying Hannah collided soon after the start checking Lucilla. College Graduate checked off Flying Hannah on the first turn. College Graduate, Lucilla and Slipaway Anna collided entering the back straight checking Slipaway Anna and Lucilla. Lucilla checked off Slipaway Anna on the second turn. Flying Hannah raced wide on the home turn and in the home straight. Slipaway Anna eased in the home straight and collided with College Graduate as a result. Lucilla and Slipaway Anna collided in the home straight. College Graduate and Flying Hannah collided approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Hughes, the trainer of the greyhound Slipaway Anna regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Slipaway Anna was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left shoulder. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Slipaway Anna with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Hughes pleaded guilty to the charge. Slipaway Anna was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
