Sailing Ale was slow to begin and stumbled soon after the start. Pretty Crazy crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking Pingu, Tiger Pride and Sailing Ale and severely checking Jemarl. Devil's Mate eased on the home turn. Pretty Crazy and Devil's Mate collided in the home straight.
Jemarl was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Melville, the handler of the greyhound Devil's Mate regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Devil's Mate was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left shoulder. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Devil's Mate with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Melville pleaded guilty to the charge. Devil's Mate was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
