Benson and Mr. Coops were slow to begin. Amlin Prince crossed to the outside soon after the start, checking Howth, Lektra Damage and Mr. Coops. Ninetymile Bill, Lektra Damage and Victory Cruise collided at the 300m mark, checking Victory Cruise. Lektra Damage and Ninetymile Bill collided at the 200m mark. Howth and Ninetymile Bill collided at the 150m mark. Amlin Prince and I've Got Wings collided at the 150m mark, checking Amlin Prince.
Stewards spoke to D Basile regarding the direction that the greyhound Ninetymile Bill be boxed first. Acting under GAR 52(2) Stewards directed that this box first be removed.
