He's Your Mate was slow to begin. Rowdy Richard and Smokey Whispers collided on the first turn checking Destini Baby which stumbled as a result. Rowdy Richard and Smokey Whispers collided on the second turn checking Rowdy Richard. Rowdy Richard failed to pursue the lure with due commitment in the home straight
Stewards spoke to Mr. W. Hartigan, the trainer of the greyhound Rowdy Richard regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Rowdy Richard was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left monkey muscle. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Rowdy Richard with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Hartigan did not enter a plea to the charge. Rowdy Richard was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
