Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Ms. K. Leek, the trainer of Gardsman regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Gardsman last raced on 25/02/16. Ms. Leek stated that the greyhound was returning from a hock injury.
Windsor Prize was slow to begin. Saintly Miss crossed to the rail soon after the start checking Quick Kisses, Greysynd Chief and Echelonic Action. Quick Kisses checked off Echelonic Action on the first turn. Echelonic Action and Dark Jameson collided on the first turn checking Echelonic Action. Nocturnal, Gardsman and Greysynd Chief collided entering the back straight checking Greysynd Chief. Saintly Miss and Quick Kisses collided in the back straight. Windsor Prize checked off Saintly Miss approaching the second turn. Dark Jameson and Gardsman collided approaching the home turn. Windsor Prize and Quick Kisses collided on the home turn. Saintly Miss marred the running of Windsor Prize in the home straight.
Saintly Miss was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the left hind toe, a left chest muscle injury and a left hock sprain. A stand down period of 10 days was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. K. Ashton, the trainer of the greyhound Saintly Miss regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Saintly Miss with marring. Mr. Ashton pleaded guilty to the charge, Saintly Miss was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
