Steward's Report
A urine sample was taken from Midnight Press upon arrival to the course.
Ivory Narwhal and Cherry Time were quick to begin.
Saleena Bale (lost considerable ground in the home straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have cramped. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting in accordance with GAR 130, Saleena Bale was ordered to undertake a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 130, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Ivory Narwhal (turned head inwards in the home straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hamstring injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Ms Donna Knight regarding Ivory Narwhal’s racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Ivory Narwhal was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms Knight pleaded not guilty to the charge. Ivory Narwhal was found guilty and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Cherry Time underwent a post–race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request and was found to have injuries to the right monkey muscle and right wrist. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race urine sample was taken from Highland Duke - the winner of the event.
