Steward's Report
Heather Bale and Bali Nights were slow to begin.
Shaka Big Chief (turned head inwards and visibly eased approaching the winning post) underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Kennel representative Mr. Michael Bewley declined the option to to have the greyhound re–examined. Stewards spoke to Mr. Bewley regarding Shaka Big Chief’s racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Shaka Big Chief was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Bewley pleaded not guilty to the charge. Shaka Big Chief was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong only (first offence) and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Bali Nights (severely checked and lost ground on the first turn) underwent a post-race veterinary examination was found to have a right-hind abrasion and injuries to the left and right back muscles. A 21 day stand-down period was imposed.
