Steward's Report
Black Magic Opal, shown in some form guides as being Grade 5, competed in this event as a grade 4 greyhound due to its winning a group 2 event at Maitland on the 11th of April, 2013.
Prior to the all clear being given, an announcement was made to hold all tickets to allow Stewards to review the photo finish. After reviewing the photo finish and acting on their own observations, all clear was given on the judges numbers.
Black Fatali, Our Pale Ale and Fly Freddie collided soon after the start. Mepunga Locky, Mimi Do It and Dirty Rich collided approaching the first turn checking Mepunga Locky and Mimi Do It. Mepunga Locky galloped on the heels of Dirty Rich approaching the first turn checking Mepunga Locky and Mimi Do It. Dirty Rich checked off Our Pale Ale on the first turn. Mepunga Locky and Dirty Rich collided on the home turn. Mepunga Locky and Mimi Do It collided entering the home straight. Night Fighter and Fly Freddie collided in the home straight. Night Fighter cramped over the concluding stages of the event. Our Pale Ale checked off Black Fatali approaching the winning post severely checking Our Pale Ale which fell as a result.
Mepunga Locky was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injuries to both triceps. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Our Pale Ale was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to both triceps and both pencil muscles. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Night Fighter was vetted following the event and was found to have cramped. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. J.Collins, the trainer of the greyhound Night Fighter. Acting in accordance with GAR 71 (Cramp), Stewards directed that the greyhound must perform a Satisfactory Trial before any future nomination will be accepted.
