In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 25 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

Pursuant to the GRV Hot Weather Policy, Stewards dispensed with two requirements prior to Race 1, meaning greyhounds were no longer required to remain on course for the specified time, and that the parading of greyhounds was to occur, as the outside temperature had decreased to a reasonable level.

Racing was indefinitely delayed at 6:40PM due to persistent rainfall in the vicinity of the Sandown Greyhound Racing Club venue. Stewards declared the track and weather conditions satisfactory for racing at 7:02pm.

A race day urine sample was taken from Doongalla Gypsy at the trainer’s kennel earlier today.

Galento and Nellie Running were quick to begin. Aeroplane Ruby, Utter Madness and Trumpet Tears were slow to begin. 

It's Mikado Time (turned its head outwards approaching the winning post) underwent a post-race veterinary examination, was re-examined following Race 3 and was found to have a left carpal sprain. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Kennel Representative Ms. Maria Barber regarding It's Mikado Time's racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, It's Mikado Time was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms. Barber pleaded not guilty to the charge. It's Mikado Time was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards also spoke to Ms. Barber regarding her conduct towards Stewards. A warning for inappropriate behaviour was issued, pursuant to GAR 165(a).

A post-race blood sample was taken from Galento - the winner of the event.

Exhibition Trial:

Chatterbug – Exhibition Trial – Distance: 515m, Weight: 27.6kg, Box 3, Time Run 29.81 (5.23 & 19.12). A urine sample was taken in accordance with GAR 136, having been presented for an Exhibition Trial.

University and Zinging Hot were quick to begin. 

Zinging Hot (marred Paw Barton in the home straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury reported. Stewards spoke to Kennel Representative Mr. Luke Whelan regarding Zinging Hot's racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Zinging Hot was charged with marring. Mr. Whelan pleaded guilty to the charge. Zinging Hot was found guilty and suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Sandown Park and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Neo Devere (turned its head outwards turning into the home straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury reported. Trainer Mr. Daniel Pell declined the opportunity to have the greyhound re-examined. Stewards spoke to Mr. Pell regarding Neo Devere's racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Neo Devere was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Pell pleaded not guilty to the charge. Neo Devere was found guilty and suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Sandown Park and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Mepunga Scarlett was checked and fell approaching the turn out of the front straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed right wrist, right scapula and left sartorius muscle injuries. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race urine sample was taken from Outsides. 

Canya Vivi and Dewana Fernando were quick to begin. Star Stay was slow to begin. 

The start of this event was delayed by approximately two minutes due to holding for a Penrith harness race.

Duplicitous, Paw Ike and Shadows Of Blue were slow to begin.

Gambella was quick to begin. Paw Petrov and Canya Nitrate were slow to begin.

Zeberiah - New declared weight of 35.2kg, last raced at 34.1kg.

Queen Avenger was quick to begin. Aston Michigan was slow to begin.

Maia checked off the heels of Russian Raccoon turning into the back straight and subsequently collided with Flying Muffin and Paw Gordy. Flying Muffin and Paw Gordy both fell as a result and underwent post-race veterinary examinations:

- Flying Muffin was found to have an abrasion on the left hind. A 3 day stand down period was imposed. 

- Paw Gordy was found to have a left shoulder muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. 

Ms. Amanda Courts failed to catch Russian Raccoon at the conclusion of the race. A warning was issued for negligence, pursuant to GAR 156(f).

An out of competition urine sample was taken from Make Me King on 19 March 2025, pursuant to GAR 139.

A race day urine sample was taken from Annabella Rose at the trainer’s kennel earlier today.
