Steward's Report
Canya Vivi and Chirp Third were quick to begin.
Silk underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion above the right stopper. A 3 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. David McKenzie regarding the racing manners of Silk in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Mr. McKenzie, viewing the available race footage, and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action. In arriving at this decision, Stewards took into consideration the interference that Slik received in the home straight. As such could not be comfortably satisfied that Silk's racing manners constituted a breach of the rules.
Paw Helion (turned head outwards in the back straight and again approaching the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was revetted following race 8. Paw Helion was found to have a left fore leg injury below elbow. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. Mark Delbridge regarding Paw Helion's racing manners in the back straight and approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Paw Helion was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Delbridge pleaded guilty to the charge. Paw Helion must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post–race urine sample was taken from Canya Vivi – the winner of the event.
