Steward's Report

Paw Tika was quick to begin. On Song Ice and Rashid were slow to begin.

Paw Tika, Cruising Debbie, Camp Fire and Where It Began collided entering the back straight, causing Camp Fire and Cruising Debbie to fall, and severely checking Paw Tika and Where It Began. All four greyhounds subsequently played no further competitive part in the event and underwent post-race veterinary examinations:

- Cruising Debbie was found to have a spike wound on the right fore. No stand down period was imposed.

- Where It Began was found to have no apparent injury.

- Camp Fire was found to have a left pectoral muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

- Paw Tika was found to have a right calf injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr. Mason Koffman regarding the greyhound’s racing manners following the incident. After hearing evidence from Mr. Koffman, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their own observations, Stewards took no further action. In arriving at this decision, Stewards took into consideration that Camp Fire and Cruising Debbie fell in front of Paw Tika and the effect this incident would reasonably have had on the racing manners of Paw Tika.

A post-race urine sample was taken from Matt Loch - winner of the event.
