Sarah's Baby was quick to begin. Why Not Al was very slow to begin(3 lengths). Neil's Wish and Denise Magic collided soon after the start. Devondale Dude and Run Cecil Run collided approaching the first turn. Neil's Wish and Denise Magic collided several times approaching the first turn. Devondale Dude checked off the heels of Run Cecil Run on the first turn. Belron Bingle galloped on the heels of Neil's Wish on the first turn severely checking Neil's Wish, Burra Gold and Why Not Al, Why Not Al raced wide as a result. Devondale Dude and Burra Gold collided on the second turn. Devondale Dude crossed to the outside on the second turn severely checking Devondale Dude and Burra Gold. Devondale Dude eased in the home straight and collided with Why Not Al.
Neil's Wish was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left thigh and toe injury, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Acting under GAR 69(5), the Stewards charged Devondale Dude with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury) and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 69(6), before any future nomination will be accepted.
