Chapster, Latrobe Storm, Orford and Leica were slow out. Orford and Leica collided soon after the start. Strathmore, Latrobe Storm and Orford collided on the first turn checking Orford. Chapster and Leica collided on the first turn. Hooded Assassin and Straight collided on the first turn checking Straight. Chapster checked off the heels of Straight on the second turn. Orford eased in the home straight. Orford was vetted following the Event and Dr. Raquel Newman, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that she could find no injury apparent with the greyhound. Stewards charged Orford with contravention of GAR96(2) for failing to pursue the lure with due commitment in the home straight. After taking evidence from Handler, Mr. T. Dailly (representing Trainer - Andrea Dailly), acting on their own observations and viewing the official video film, the Stewards found Orford guilty as charged. Acting in accordance with GAR97(1), the Stewards will stand Orford down from competing for 28 days at Sandown Park only and will require the greyhound to perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will again be accepted.

Amos Flex checked off the heels of Fenceline on the first turn and fell as a result. Awesome Jack checked off the heels of Fenceline on the third turn. Mercury Arc was vetted following the Event and after being revetted, Dr. Raquel Newman, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left thigh and back muscle and recommended the greyhound be stood down from competing for 10 days. Stewards spoke to Trainer, Ms. C. Jones, as to their concerns with the performance of Mercury Arc, particularly on the first turn, however, took into consideration the injuries sustained to the greyhound and the comments tendered by Ms. Jones. Stewards also took into consideration the racing history of Mercury Arc and took no further action. Amos Flex was also vetted following the Event and Dr. Newman reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the right saddle muscle. No stand down penalty was applied.

Nita's Puzzle and All Style were slow out. Holiday Road crossed to the rails soon after the start checking Jordy O'Mac, Doc Engi and Turbo Charlie. Doc Engi and Turbo Charlie collided on the first turn causing Turbo Charlie to race wide. Jordy O'Mac checked off the heels of Nita's Puzzle on the second turn. Gun Striker and All Style collided on the third turn checking Nita's Puzzle and All Style. Chucka Uwee and Nita's Puzzle collided in the home straight. All Style was vetted following the Event and Dr. Raquel Newman, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the right thigh. Acting on a recommendation from Dr. Newman, the Stewards will stand All Style down from competing for 5 days. Stewards issued a warning to Handler, A. Britton (representing Trainer, R. Britton), regarding the manner in which All Style raced on the third turn.
