Steward's Report

Classy Customer, Proven Union, Geoff's Mate, Ultraflex and Milk Magic were slow out. Dewana Bill, Classy Customer and Proven Union collided soon after the start. Dewana Bill checked off the heels of Proven Union on the first turn checking Proven Union, Geoff's Mate, Fool Of Aces and Ultraflex. Classy Customer checked off the heels of Dewana Bill entering the front straight checking Fool Of Aces. Proven Union and Fool Of Aces collided on the second turn. Geoff's Mate and Ultraflex collided on the second turn. Classy Customer and Milk Magic collided approaching the home turn and again on the home turn. Proven Union was vetted following the Event and after being revetted, Dr. Michael Bell, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that he could find no injury apparent with the greyhound. Stewards spoke to Trainer, Jason Thompson, regarding the disappointing performance of Proven Union this evening. Mr. Thompson told the Stewards that for the greyhound to perform well over the 600 metres, he must lead. Mr. Thompson also advised that it was his opinion that the greyhound is not suited to The Meadows circuit. Stewards noted Mr. Thompson's explanation and directed that a swab sample be taken from Proven Union, which finished in 8th position. Milk Magic was also vetted following the Event and Dr. Bell reported that he could find no injury apparent with the greyhound. Stewards spoke to Trainer, Keith Robbins, regarding the performance of Milk Magic this evening, in particular on the fourth turn. Mr. Robbins told the Stewards that he took over the training of the greyhound three weeks ago at which time the greyhound had only had one run at The Meadows. Mr. Robbins also told the Stewards that it was his opinion the greyhound received a check at that point of the race which caused Milk Magic to slightly lose momentum, however, the greyhound then raced on keenly.
