Steward's Report
Storm Dancer and Lucky Nero were slow out. Lucky Nero, Westdance Melody and Shirdon Melody collided approaching the first turn. Lucky Nero contacted the running rail on the second turn and lost considerable ground as a result. Shirdon Melody and Excessive Heat collided on the third turn checking Shirdon Melody. Storm Dancer and Fly The Coup collided approaching the home turn.
Lucky Nero was vetted following the Event and Dr. Gabrielle Carter, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that the greyhound sustained a tail injury. Acting on a recommendation from Dr. Carter, the Stewards will stand Lucky Nero down from competing for 10 days. Stewards spoke to Trainer, A Steele, regarding the performance of Lucky Nero this evening.
Mr. Steele could offer no explanation for the greyhound's disappointing performance advising Stewards that the greyhound's preparation for the race had been, in his opinion, very good and he was extremely confident of a forwarding showing in tonight's race and supported the greyhound accordingly. Stewards noted Mr. Steele's explanation and directed that samples be taken from Lucky Nero, which finished 7th in the Event.
