Shaggy Boy was checked on the first turn, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hip injury and a spike wound to the right front toe. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards spoke to Representative Mr S.VanTaarling regarding the racing manners of Shaggy Boy in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Mr VanTaarling, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections.

Pursuant to GAR 75(6), Parade Ms S.Evans did not act in any official capacity that may have in any way affected the outcome of this event.

Khan Craig was quick to begin. She's Nautical, Little Speckle and New Ability were slow to begin. 

Little Speckle was severely checked on the first turn and fell, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a a right wrist injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Hillbilly Dusk underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have cramped. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Acting in accordance with GAR 130, Hillbilly Dusk was ordered to undertake a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 130, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A race day sample was taken from Woodshed Albert at the trainer’s kennel earlier today.

Banana Joe – Late scratching at 9:36am on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 92) due to elevated temperature. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre race sample was taken from Tornado Jack.

Kris Bar Paddy raced wide entering the home straight. Ando's Jae raced wide in the home straight.

Galveston visibly eased in the home straight, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following event 5. Galveston was found to have a left wrist sprain and a left hip injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Clayton King regarding Galveston’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Galveston was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. King pleaded guilty to the charge. Galveston was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Urana Whirlwind was quick to begin. Mo City was slow to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Urana Whirlwind - the winner of the event.

Detroit was slow to begin. 

Dialed In (faltered soon after the start and tailed off), underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triangle and a right monkey muscle injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Hillbilly King was quick to begin. Farnham Bale was very slow to begin. 

An out of competition sample was taken from Whiskey Chaser on 7 February 2024 pursuant to GAR 139.

A pre-race sample was taken from Pandora's Raptor.

Impress Simba was slow to begin.

Urana Express – Late scratching at 10:02am due to weight variation (GAR 101). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer, Mr Paul May was fined $100.

Finley Bale, Inner Spirit and Intrepid Lad were slow to begin.
