In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 29.5 degrees and the kennel temperature was 19.0 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

During kennelling, Stewards conducted a carpark check on the vehicles of all trainers engaged in today’s meeting. Stewards were satisfied that all transport had adhered to the GRV Hot Weather Policy and the GRV Transportation of Greyhounds Policy.

Magical Paws was checked on the first turn and subsequently stumbled. Magic Paws underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right long head triceps muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Plush was slow to begin. 

Dr. Rounder raced wide throughout the event and underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

Plush raced ungenerously throughout the event, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the left deltoid and sartorius muscle. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Deep Rift turned head outwards in the back straight, underwent a post–race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Mr. Des Douch declined the option to have the greyhound re–examined. Stewards spoke to Mr. Douch regarding Deep Rift's racing manners in the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Deep Rift was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Douch pleaded guilty to the charge. Deep Rift was suspended for 28 days at Traralgon and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Absolute Haze turned head inwards and marred Deep Rift in the home straight, underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr. Justin Nolan regarding Absolute Haze’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Absolute Haze was charged with marring. Mr. Nolan pleaded guilty to the charge. Absolute Haze was suspended for 28 days at Traralgon and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Grand Stride was slow to begin.

Dr. Ivor turned its head outwards and marred Grand Stride, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms Jennifer Gill regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Dr. Ivor was charged with marring. Ms Gill pleaded not guilty to the charge. Dr. Ivor was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Traralgon and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Evie Jean faltered in the back straight and subsequently tailed off, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left and right hindleg back muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Pursuant to the GRV Hot Weather Policy, Stewards dispensed with two requirements prior to Race 6, meaning greyhounds were no longer required to remain on course for the specified time, and that the parading of greyhounds was to occur, as the outside temperature had decreased to a reasonable level.

Whippy Flash faltered approaching the first turn and subsequently lost ground, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hindleg tarsal sprain injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
