Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Cabao Jasper.
Hadwin Bale (commenced to lose ground turning out of the back straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Miss Korie Heinrich regarding the racing manners of Hadwin Bale approaching the home turn. After hearing submissions from Miss Heinrich, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards took no action.
Sharp Thief (marred Hadwin Bale entering the home straight and approaching the winning post) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left carpal sprain and right back muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative Mr Joe Barbara regarding Sharp Thief's racing manners in the home straight and approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Sharp Thief was charged with marring, Mr Barbara pleaded guilty to the charge. Sharp Thief was suspended for 28 days at The Meadows only and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
