Steward's Report
R. Brook, trainer of Opulent Rose redeclared a new weight of 28.0kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Opulent Rose last raced at 26.5kg.
Weston East, Hashtag Selfie, Opulent Rose, Sir Charleton and Udon Bale collided approaching the first turn. Billy Bubba, Mermaid Millie and Stealthy Shadow collided on the first turn. Opulent Rose eased on the first turn, checking Sir Charleton. Hashtag Selfie checked off Stealthy Shadow on the first turn, causing Sir Charleton to fall, checking Opulent Rose and severely checking Hashtag Selfie. Billy Bubba and Stealthy Shadow collided approaching the home turn.
Sir Charleton was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury.
Stewards spoke to R. Brook, the trainer of the greyhound Opulent Rose regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn. Opulent Rose was vetted and re-vetted following race 9. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left shoulder, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Opulent Rose with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). R. Brook pleaded guilty to the charge, Opulent Rose was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to A. Langton and reminded her of her responsibilities after she arrived late to the kennels to prepare the greyhound Weston East for the event.
