In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 32.8 degrees and the kennel temperature was 19.9 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

Nana's Rebel was slow to begin. 

A post–race sample was taken from Argyle Axle – the winner of the event.

Mincher Magic and Kris Bar Paddy were slow to begin. 

Pablo's Call (eased and turned its head outwards approaching the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right stopper injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards spoke to Representative Mr J.Formosa regarding Pablo's Call’s racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Pablo's Call was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Formosa pleaded guilty to the charge. Pablo's Call was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Kris Bar Paddy (eased and turned its head outwards approaching the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re–examined following race six. Kris Bar Paddy was found to have a right wrist injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Kris Bar Paddy was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Coconut Oakland was slow to begin. 

A post–race sample was taken from Especial Digger – the winner of the event. 

Burdock (eased approaching the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right wrist injury.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr R.Hayes regarding Burdock’s racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Burdock was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Hayes pleaded guilty to the charge. Burdock was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post–race sample was taken from Yeah Sweetie – the winner of the event. 

Impassioned was quick to begin. 

An out of competition sample was taken from Flying Speed on 23 October 2023 pursuant to GAR 139.

Trainer Mr J.Uglietta was fined $50 for failing to ensure the registration card was produced for Hot Cross, pursuant to GAR 88. 

Hydro Glide and Redshift Romeo were slow to begin. 

Hot Cross (severely checked and lost ground on the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hock sprain and a left triangle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Flying Speed (visibly eased approaching the winning post) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have bruising to the right hamstring area. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Colin Goodman regarding Flying Speed’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Flying Speed was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Goodman pleaded guilty to the charge. Flying Speed was found guilty and suspended for three months all tracks and must perform two Satisfactory Trials in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Aaron Alpaca (faltered on the first turn and lost ground) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Kennel representative Mr J.Abela regarding Aaron Alpaca performance on the first turn. In accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Mr Abela to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Aaron Alpaca in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event. 

Aston Arielle was quick to begin. 

Jedda Milne (lost ground in the back straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triangle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

A post–race sample was taken from Fayetteville – the winner of the event.

Rhapsody Blue (lost ground approaching the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre–race sample was taken from Con Cabang.

Colour Me and Con Cabang were slow to begin. 

Blue Bale was slow to begin. Van Diemen raced wide in the home straight. 

Meeting Comments:

Trainer Mr G.Berry failed to kennel greyhounds, Con Cabang and Cool Cabang by the appointed kennelling time. A warning was issued pursuant to LR 39.1

Trial Results:

Tarp Welder – Unsatisfactory – Field of four, Distance: 425m, Weight: 32.0kg, Box 3, Placed 4th, Time Run 25.63. Tarp Welder – Comment: Not Cleared visibly eased entering the home straight.

Tarp Welder underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right tarsal sprain. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Rocket Ralph – Fail To Chase – Field of four, Distance: 425m, Weight: 32.1kg, Box 8, Placed 2nd, Time Run 25.06. Rocket Ralph – Comment: Cleared All Tracks except, Horsham.
