Steward's Report
Hallee's Reef was quick to begin.
Flying Speed visibly eased at the 150m mark and subsequently pulled up. Flying Speed underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr J. Burch regarding Flying Speed’s racing manners at the 150m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Flying Speed was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Burch pleaded guilty to the charge. Flying Speed was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards delayed the All Clear after a bird was on track at the 50m mark. After reviewing all available footage and acting on their observations, Stewards were comfortably satisfied that the incident had no effect on the outcome of the race. The All Clear was given on 8-4-6-7.
