Chain Drive was quick to begin.  Matchett Bale was very slow to begin (3L).

Matchett Bale (lost ground in the home straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. R. Coleman in regards to the greyhound's performance in the home straight. Mr. Coleman explained that the greyhound was displaying signs of cramp in the catching pen and, upon viewing the greyhound's change of action and loss of ground in the home straight, Mr Coleman was of the opinion that the greyhound had cramped in running. Stewards agreed with Mr. Coleman's observations and acting in accordance with GAR 130, Matchett Bale was ordered to perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 130, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Evie Maldini was quick to begin.  Crimson Chalky was slow to begin.

Qualia Bale (turned its head outwards soon after the start), underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no injury reported  Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. R. Coleman regarding the greyhound’s racing manners soon after the start. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Qualia Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Coleman pleaded guilty to the charge and declined his option to have the greyhound re-examined. Qualia Bale was suspended for 28 days at Geelong only and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A pre-race sample was taken from Twenty Deep.

Daisy May and Mind Flayer were quick to begin. Yankee Blood and Fernando Zoom were slow to begin.

Twenty Deep (severely checked and fell approaching the first turn), underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have split webbing on the right hind. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Crimson Kit (visibly eased approaching the first turn), underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a minor abrasion to the right hind foot, no stand down period applied. Stewards spoke to representative Mr D. Sharp regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Crimson Kit was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Sharp pleaded guilty to the charge. Crimson Kit must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Mind Flayer (checked approaching the first turn and fell in the catching pen area), underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no injury reported.

There were no reportable incidents for this event.

Hosey Sidekick and Starling were quick to begin.

Jen Jumbo Prawn was slow to begin.

Jen Jumbo Prawn (lost ground from the home turn), underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right monkey muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.

A post-race sample was taken from Shaka Big Tonks, the winner of the event.

Yori Bale and White Crest were slow to begin. 

A post-race sample was taken from Kinloch Kansas, the winner of the event. 

A pre-race sample was taken from Hit The Switch.

White Flower and Targan Bale raced wide in the home straight. 

A pre-race sample was taken from Bay Tudor.

Dig Dag, Bay Tudor and Fire Wire were slow to begin. 

Bar Banter - Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr C. Treherne regarding the racing manners of the greyhound in the event. After hearing submissions from Mr Treherne, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning against the greyhound.

A sample was taken from Carry On Jack upon arrival to the course.

Carry On Jack and Matrix Bale were quick to begin. Butterflies Lad was slow to begin. 

The start was delayed by approximately one minute due to holding for a Melton Harness race.

Blackpool Blade – Proved difficult to box and will be boxed first in future events in accordance with GAR 106.

Denominator was quick to begin. 

Pursuant to GAR 75(6), Starter Ms. D. Robertson did not act in any official capacity that may have in any way affected the outcome of this event.

Lala Speed, Woodroffe and Blackpool Diva were slow to begin.

Matt's Hope - Trainer Ms M. Mallia reported the greyhound had some hamstring soreness following the run. Ms Mallia advised that she will trial Matt's Hope and monitor its recovery before assessing the greyhound's immediate racing future.
