Steward's Report
A pre–race sample was taken from Ice Bath Forth.
Hidden Stones - checked and fell soon after start, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have right satorius muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Remarli - checked and fell soon after the start and underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
Mepunga Sunset - checked soon after start and severely checked approaching the home turn. Failed to pursue the lure with due commitment approaching the winning post and collided with My Girl Tori, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re–examined following race 7, no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to trainer Mr J Britton regarding Mepunga Sunset’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Mepunga Sunset was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr J Britton pleaded guilty to the charge. Mepunga Sunset was found guiltyand suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
