A pre–race sample was taken from Zipping Thor.
Galileo Brae and Crackerjack Phil were quick to begin. Zipping Thor and Major China were slow to begin.
Crackerjack Phil checked and fell turn on the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound on the left hock, a sore left carpus and abrasions on the left hindleg. No day stand down period was imposed.
Major China checked on the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have bruising to the right hamstring. No stand down period was imposed.
A post–race sample was taken from Galileo Bale – the winner of the event.
