Steward's Report
The closing time of kennelling was altered in accordance with GAR 86 due to the late arrival of kennel representative Grant Masterson (Race 6 - Voice of Thunder) who experienced delays on–route to the track. The kennels closed at 01:28pm. Mr Masterson was issued a warning.
Big Smoke, Evie Wonder and Dundee Riper were slow to begin.
A post–race sample was taken from Ruby Riccarton – placed 3rd in the event.
Evie Wonder - raced greenly through the first turn, colliding with another runner, and then lost ground from the back straight, being uncompetitive for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a toe and deltoid injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Lee Lansdown regarding his expecations of Evie Wonder in today's event. Mr Lansdown stated the greyhound had trialled here recently over the 515m and almost ran 30 seconds so expected a forward showing. Stewards noted his comments.
