Steward's Report
Demure – Late scratching at 6.45am when Mr David Franklin reported the greyhound to have a fibula injury (GAR 76). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nominations will be accepted.
Inter Slade and Lady Suzie were quick to begin. Bruising Faun, Sonic Paws and Fresh Ability were slow to begin.
Sonic Paws lost ground soon after the start and took no competitive part in the event. Sonic Paws underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following event 8 - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to representative Mr Jarrod Rocke regarding Sonic Paws’ overall performance in the event. After hearing submissions from Mr. Rocke, viewing the available race footage and acting on their observations, Stewards deemed the performance of Sonic Paws unsatisfactory. Sonic Paws must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 129, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Bruising Faun lost ground approaching the 50m mark, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the left back muscle and left supraspinatus. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Fresh Ability raced green, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right tensor fascia lata muscle injury, an abrasion to the left hind metatarsal and sand burn to the right hind webbing. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Summer Night - the winner of the event.
